WHAT IS EIFS? |
EIFS stands for Exterior Insulated Finishing System. It is also known as Synthetic Stucco. Common manufacturers include Sto-Corp, Dryvit, and Synergy. It consists of expanded polystyrene bead board applied over a building. A fiberglass reinforced acrylic product is applied over the insulation board.
WHY IS IT A PROBLEM? |
If improperly applied, or as the system ages, water (rain, snow, etc.) can penetrate the system and cause damage to the material behind the styrene bead board.
HOW DO YOU TEST OR INSPECT THIS MATERIAL? |
We follow the testing and inspection protocol that was written by the Exterior Design Institute to review the EIFS. We use a Tramex Wet Wall Detector, and if necessary a Structural Impact Tester or a Delmhorst resistance moisture meter.
ARE YOU LICENSED OR CERTIFIED TO DO THIS? |
Yes, we are certified by the Exterior Design Institute.
DO YOU PROVIDE A WRITTEN REPORT? |
Yes.
CAN YOU PREPARE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR NECESSARY REPAIRS? |
If it helps you, our Registered Professional Engineer would be happy to prepare the plans and specifications for the actual repairs. Understand that this is an additional service. In asking for this, you would incur an additional fee.
DO YOU DO THE ACTUAL WORK? |
No. We feel that this is a conflict of interest. We can provide you with a list of professional EIFS contractors.
CAN YOU SUPERVISE THE REPAIRS? |
